“For free spirits seeking the purity and truth of a terroir, who prefer balance over ripeness, who desire a sense of freshness and prioritize harmony, who wish to rediscover the Rhône Valley from a new perspective. For them, we make wine.”

LES DOMAINES DU MONT

4 estates, 1 vision

In pursuit of a natural balance, we seek the most sensitive and true interpretation of each of our terroirs: from the granite terraces of Crozes-Hermitage, to the active limestone of the Valréas plateau, the urgonian soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and the blue marls of Rasteau. Not to forget the grey limestone of Gigondas, the red clays of Vinsobres, and the pebbles of Séguret… we benefit from a great diversity of terroirs, which is an endless source of inspiration.

La Ferme Du Mont has the unique feature of offering a complex mosaic of vineyards, among the best terroirs in the Southern Rhône Valley. Sensitive to the integrity of his environment, Stéphane Vedeau has been able to decipher, interpret, and adapt to these terroirs, in order to reveal their most sincere expression.

VALREAS

On the stony slopes with deep, cool clays facing southeast, our 10 hectares of vines draw their richness. The relative altitude of 350 to 400 meters imparts to this terroir an acidity that brings balance and a finesse of tannins characteristic of this appellation. We place paramount importance on maintaining a rich and varied ecosystem within the vineyard, thus promoting the natural balance in our wines.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Letting nature express itself freely

Our work philosophy is based on the constant pursuit of natural simplicity. Everything is already in nature. This is our conviction. Expressing the characteristics of our terroirs requires a holistic vision in which man is a guide rather than a ‘maker.’ Humility must guide his approach. He must restrain his urge to intervene too much, allowing nature to express its deepest essence.

philosophie_domaine_du_mont

Here, nothing is forced. Our actions are designed to intervene as little as possible, allowing the natural qualities of our grapes to shine. Listening and guiding to achieve harmony without perceiving the hand of man… is our creed. Purity, finesse, balance…

IN THE CELLAR

Shaping the Material

Wine is not an exact science. One must sense things, listen to the material express itself, and most importantly, allow time to do its work. Minimalist in our approach, we aim to reveal the original character of the wine. In our three cellars, in Rasteau, Valréas, and Gervans, we apply gentle and traditional vinification methods for the grapes: gravity-fed vinification, use of indigenous yeasts, and minimizing sulfite quantities well below the limits authorized in organic production.

OUR STORY

The starting point was the understanding of Grenache, paradoxes, agreed impossibilities, climates, and elevation.

2000

In 2000, when the opportunity arose to create La Ferme du Mont, Stéphane Vedeau did not hesitate. After numerous micro-vinifications and journeys deep into the cellar, Grenache revealed itself in all its verticality, all its freshness. Perfect balance does not exist, but we are getting closer…

2010

In 2010, Stéphane decides to continue his journey in Valréas, at the northern tip of the Southern Rhône Valley. He purchases Clos Bellane and its 48 hectares of vineyards. Here, at 410 meters altitude, amidst a setting of rare tranquility, vine plots intertwine with lavender fields and centuries-old truffle oaks.

2016

A new adventure begins with the meeting of Jean-François. The two men reconnect through their passion for beauty and their vision of the vineyard. After taking the time to get to know each other, they decide to partner in 2018, dedicating themselves to discovering beautiful terroirs in the Rhône Valley.

2020

In 2020, when Emmanuel Bouchard was preparing to retire, Stéphane and Jean-François naturally purchased the 10 hectares of Val des Rois. They gave the former owner carte blanche to maintain the vineyards of both Clos Bellane and Val des Rois

2022

Finally, in 2022, a rare opportunity presented itself with the acquisition of 12 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage, along with its winemaking cellar, which anchors them in the Northern Rhône Valley. The estate is located in Gervans, high up on the vineyard’s superb terraces covered with loess.
